A few hours ago, an American hip hop duo, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis after surprisingly scoring the Most American Music Award Nominations, had their concert tickets turned into instant hot cake. The upcoming rappers had scored a staggering '6' in the the highly respected Award even ahead of old timers like Justin Timberlake and Taylor Swift.
So, as soon as the news of the breakthrough went round, scalpers saw it as a good opportunity to make good money as usual. Sensing this, the "Thrift Shop", "Same Love" and "Can't hold us" crooners went online to see what scalpers were doing with the opportunity, and they found many and decided to call them and, while pretending to be one of their prospects, would try negotiating the ticket prices which were much bloated.
For instance, Macklemore and Ryan spotted a British scalper (a woman) who displayed $65 on Craigslist as the ticket price for one of the shows to be held at Seatle and the following telephone conversation ensued:
Macklemore (mimicking a British accent and with Ryan Lewis sitting next to him): Hello I'm calling about the Craigslist tickets for the Macklemore show. I don't know if the bloke is worth 65 bucks a ticket, I'm trying to decide if my two nieces would be interested in the show.
Scalper: He's got two of them actually
Macklemore: Only two songs? Two-hit wonder? You wouldn't sell the Bieber tickets if you had them. From what I hear, Bieber doesn't even really matter that much anymore. Macklemore is, like, the thing.
After about seven minutes of trying to negotiate the ticket price with the woman, who finally would go no lower than $60, the game ended as follows:
Macklemore: I'm going to marinate on it. I think you missed out a bit because this is Macklemore.
Scalper: No way.
Macklemore: I'll see you in Seattle at some point. I'll be on the Internet.
The hip hop duo have posted a video of this conversation on their Youtube page with a link to buy tickets at the right price from their website.
I think this is quite creative of the young musicians and shows they care about their fans and not just to be interested in their money. What do you think? There is joy in sharing. So, please, click on the Facebook, Twitter or Google Plus icons below to share this story with your loved ones.
